Position Summary
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing reporting and data integration processes using SQL, MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). The position will also entail some API work that will integrate with SQL objects. This role will partner with other team members and business stakeholders to deliver reporting and analytical solutions.
Expectations
Analyze, define, and document system requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, interfaces with other systems, auditing, reporting requirements, and production configurationEnforce uniform adherence to established standards and procedures for the department. Review documentation submitted by programmers to ensure conformity to standards.Ensure that each data flow has robust audit, data validation, error handling, monitoring and reporting steps to ensure accuracy and completeness of loaded data at all timesProvide accurate effort estimates to the Team Lead and/or Project Manager and project teams as appropriateDeliver testing support including the design and execution and documentation of test scriptsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication, presentation, and relationship management skillsExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentAbility to work with diverse teamsAbility to maintain confidentialityPerforms other related duties as assigned and required
Competencies
Skills and hands-on experience of the followingSQL (Microsoft SQL Server) including experience with CTE’s and temporal tablesSQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)The ability to work accurately and diligently under pressure, on multiple projects within your project timeframesExperience documenting and following specifications and challenging business logic where appropriateExperience with application development using C# or .NETExperience writing/debugging APIsExperience with Power BI is a plusExperience with the Insurance industry is a plusMicrosoft certifications related to SQL Server and Data are a plusUnderstanding of Accounting is a plus
