Join a dynamic group of software engineers responsible for the design, development and integration of embedded software solutions for the world's premier land-based combat vehicle producer as a Software Engineer - Simulation/Training/Game Development.This role is a part of the Advanced Capabilities Development team, which is a part of the Advanced Products & Technologies (APT) group at GDLS. Their mission is to investigate, develop, and demonstrate advanced capabilities for the next generation of vehicle platforms. The team works as part of a cross-functional team with responsibility and authority to deliver key vehicle electronics and software products with the goal of integrating and testing them at the subsystem and vehicle level.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

This role will support several ongoing software development activities including:Developing simulations used for soldier trainingOn-Vehicle Embedded Training applicationsUsing software design tools, develop software and documentation as specified by department standardsWrite test procedures and perform unit/functional testing on the executable softwarePerform hardware/software integration along with debugging software issues during the testing phasesPrepare status reports and support design/code reviews with team membersInterface with other GDLS departments and business units as required to complete tasksThis role is a mix of office and lab/vehicle environment where the requirement for being on site approximately 70% of the time for lab/vehicle equipment access

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical fieldEntry-level college graduateStrong background in high-level programming languages such as C++ and C#1 year or more experience working with Simulations/Training/Game development devicesExperience with networking and socketsBe comfortable supporting integration issues in a lab and on a vehicleLinux, Unix & PC experienceHighly motivated performerWorks well in a team and individuallyGoal-oriented and able to keep focused on tasksAbility to multi-task on simultaneous development projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and mission scopeProactive attitude and enjoyment of working in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtimeStrong communication, interpersonal, and people skills requiredAbility to travel when needed, minimal travel required for this role

Bonus:

Experience working with Training systems is a plusExperience in design, development and integration of military vehiclesExperience with defense department processes and documentation standardsExperience with version control systems like GIT, issue tracking systems like JIRA, and collaboration tools like Confluence, etc.Familiar with Agile development methodology
