Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

to play a crucial role in shaping the foundations and future of the Trade Processing testing suite. In this role, you’ll help analyze and execute the most effective testing approach to assure that products meet design specifications and customer requirements. This role will maintain and administer operational and process quality standards. You’ll collaborate closely with peer engineers, engineering managers, and product managers.Duties/ResponsibilitiesIdentify automation opportunities and build on the existing automation framework.Analyze product documentation to plan for the best testing approach that will ensure quality.Build automated end-to-end system tests to validate complex microservice integrations and document results.Perform and conduct testing to assure that products meet design specifications and customer requirements.Use JIRA for Test Case and Defect Management.Work closely with project managers, software developers, business analysts, and Operations team members to ensure quality products.Effectively communicate and document all problems discovered during the validation process.Maintain an established level of productivity using time management techniques.Skill Requirements3+ years of automated Software Testing experience with cloud-native, distributed microservice architectures.3+ years of experience writing code in Java or Golang.Understanding of and practical experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or RabbitMQ.Databases such as PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and MongoDB.REST, gRPC, and protobuf protocols.GCP or AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Github, Github Actions, etc.Passion for improving software quality.Good verbal and written communication skills.Advanced problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.Education/Experience QualificationsBS in Computer Science or equivalent.2+ years of experience working as a QA Engineer in an Agile development environment.2+ years of experience testing enterprise-grade REST API / gRPC services.Strong experience in building/implementing automation with test cases.Experience with Test Case and Defect Management tools, preferably JIRA.This role will be located in Portland, OR and will be in office 3 days/week, optional remote 2 days/week.Our RewardsWe offer a robust package of employee perks and benefits, including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision, EAP), competitive PTO, 401k match, parental leave, and HSA contribution match.
