Senior Network Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

Drive the design, maintenance, and support of a variety of routed and switched TCP/IP networking systems including LAN / WAN / ACD / VoIP / VoSIP in a highly secure, regulated DoD environment.

Leverage several network management and analysis systems to monitor, troubleshoot, plan and measure network and host communication and performance at all levels of the OSI model.

Drive the design and configuration of firewalls, routing, and switching to enhance security, ensure high availability, improve functionality, and support scalability.

Drive the design, implementation, and securing of core Voice networking infrastructure in Ribbon

Establish and maintain connections between on-premises networks and Ribbon and monitor network performance

Identify and apply Networking Security Best Practices.

Maintain and support DISA J-6 Pentagon Voice communication equipment, systems, and solutions.

Maintain and support all DISA J-6 Pentagon Voice and Data Service Provider connections.

Ensure the highest level of security and availability for core and branch networking and telephony systems.

Acts as a key collaborative resource with business, leadership, and technology teams for routine issues and project-related requirements.

Drive the Development and maintenance of knowledge base and procedural documentation.

Drive engagement in a continuous cross-training environment with junior team members

Continuous learning and development for relevant technology platforms and disciplines are expected for this position

Must be flexible to work after-hour support for maintenance, upgrades, emergency outage support to the system

Required Experience/Qualifications:

Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with LAN/WAN technology.

8 – 10+ years of experience in networking engineering role.

Experience working with network event and log management systems required.

DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by theProgram Manager is required prior to support on contract

IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent

Advanced understanding of core TCP/IP/SIP protocol suite and ability to troubleshoot.

Advanced understanding of network security systems, processes, appliances and software suites.

Advanced knowledge and experience with Enterprise Network solutions such as Ribbon AS, Switches and IOS-based Routers and Switches, , etc.

Advanced experience with Voice Network design and implementation. Ribbon Desired

Advanced experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and syslog event correlation systems.

Expert-level knowledge and experience with WAN routing and design

Advance knowledge of Windows and Linux OS (RedHat, etc.) especially relating to networking and security.

Strong knowledge of VoIP technologies.

Strong knowledge and experience managing service provider SIP and circuit technologies.

Experience with automation tools and scripting

(e.g. Python, Perl, C++, BASH)

Experience working with VOIP and/or Cloud UC solutions required.

Organization and prioritization skills essential.

Ability to work alone or with little supervision.

Interest in pursuing further education and training.

Must stay current with industry trends and evolving network technologies.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel. Some travel is required

Experience/Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES:

experience working in Department of Defense or Government Agency network environments.

Industry certification highly desirable (ex: Ribbon, Cisco,)

Experience with cloud networking desired

Special Requirements/Security Clearance:

Must possess a Secret clearance
