$61-$71/hrJob Summary:

The Senior Telecommunications Network Engineer will play a key role in designing, configuring, and maintaining both legacy and next-generation telecommunications technologies. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience with IT systems and telecommunications infrastructure, including expertise in switching systems, VoIP technologies, network equipment, and telecommunications protocols. This role will involve the translation of business requirements into telecommunications solutions for government and public safety agencies, with a focus on modernization and infrastructure enhancement.Key Responsibilities:

System Configuration & Maintenance: Configure and maintain telecommunications systems, including gateways, routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, network servers, multiplexers, calling card platforms, TDM, Dialogic, and VoIP systems (SIP, H.323 protocols, dial peers, and VoIP carrier trunking).Network Design: Develop and implement telecom infrastructure designs, including LAN, CAN, WAN, voice, and video systems, ensuring they align with business requirements and strategic goals.Telecom Infrastructure Support: Provide engineering support for construction projects by designing the supporting cable/wiring infrastructure for voice, data, video, and wireless systems.Strategic Modernization: Conduct in-depth analysis of telecommunications alternatives and develop recommendations for medium and large-scale infrastructure improvements, including public safety systems like 9-1-1.Requirements Translation: Translate business and technical requirements into telecommunications designs and orders to meet the needs of government and public safety agencies.Performance Metrics & Reporting: Develop metrics to track performance and progress, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.Program Management: Oversee telecommunications projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope, while managing stakeholder communication and presenting progress reports to national, state, and local officials.VoIP Systems Management: Ensure the reliability and performance of VoIP systems and related telecommunications protocols.Required Qualifications:

At least five (5) years of experience working with IT systems and technology in a telecommunications environment, including both legacy switching and next-generation technologies.Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with configuring and maintaining telecommunications equipment: gateways, routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, network servers, multiplexers, TDM, Dialogic, and VoIP systems.Proficiency with telecommunications protocols (SIP, H.323), dial peers, and VoIP carrier trunking.Experience in translating business requirements into telecommunications infrastructure designs for LAN, CAN, WAN, voice, and video networks.Ability to design and support telecommunications cabling and wiring infrastructure for voice, data, video, and wireless systems.Strong analytical skills to perform engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives and infrastructure modernization.Proven track record of managing telecommunications programs and presenting to high-level officials.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with public safety agencies and large-scale telecommunication infrastructure projects, including 9-1-1 systems.Knowledge of strategic modernization efforts and telecom enhancement design.Certifications related to networking and telecommunications, such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
