Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.As part of the Collections Value Stream within Discover, you will work on an Agile Team with our business partners to build and maintain consumer focused systems within our Company. This Application Engineer role is with our Monetary Transfer team. We are the internal technology team that facilitates money movement through ACH processing, Payment processing, Wires and Adjustments. We are building out our capabilities around our next generation Container & Serverless management platform by leveraging OpenShift from Kubernetes. Application Engineer , you’ll build and release reliable software systems at scale. By partnering with enterprise-wide teams, you’ll develop and maintain full stack solutions that fit our business needs. You’ll use your holistic view of all products (and their interactions) to design elegant solutions and strategize the future state of our larger technical ecosystem. By independently innovating and advocating for best practices, you’ll solve complex problems and guide the team on implementing solutions from inception to production.Responsibilities

Contribute to product team deliverables using Java programming technologyDiagnose opportunities for automation and efficiency in the end to end product delivery cycleSolve complex technical problems and explore new ways to bring valueCollaborate with our business partners to understand all business requirementsAnalyze, design, program, test, and deploy new user stories and features with high quality (security, reliability, operations) to productionAchieve team commitments (and influence others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skillsHave oversight on design decisions and guide team to achieve key results for products assigned to themRemediate issues using engineering principles and create proactive design solutions for potential failuresContribute to and lead technology communities at DiscoverMinimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:Bachelors – Computer Science or related3+ Years – Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or relatedInternal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scalePreferred Qualifications

Bonus Points If You Have:Experience with Payments and ACHCloud Technology – AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, OpenShiftExperience developing and implementing API service architectureExtreme automation mindset as it pertains to testing and build/deploy conceptsCI/CD Pipeline experience via Jenkins, Github Actions, Chef, Ansible, NexusTechstack includes Java, Spring, Kafka, Openshift, and JenkinsApplication Deadline

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $86,500.00 to $146,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
