DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In the role of Medical Records Director for the Department of Corrections, you will oversee the department responsible for the creation, organization, and upkeep of medical records and related documents. Your position entails the development and implementation of facility-specific policies and procedures to ensure the accurate completion and maintenance of medical records, while also adhering to the standards set by accrediting and certifying agencies. Given the complexity of cases, a high level of precision is essential, particularly due to the frequent need for multiple classifications or cross-references.

Your responsibilities include supervising a clerical and technical team tasked with managing intricate medical case histories. Your work is conducted under the guidance of an administrative supervisor, with compliance to departmental and facility policies and procedures assessed through various means such as reports, conferences, and inspections.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.

Salary:

In some cases, the starting salary may be negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Registration as a Medical Records Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association;

or

Two years of experience as a Medical Records Technician; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association;

or

Four years of experience in the preparation, classification and abstracting of medical reports in a medical records department; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

PA residency requirement is currently

waived

for this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
