Scope of Position:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Medical Staffing Services to lead and manage the medical administration and medico-legal aspects of our medical staff organization. This role serves as a critical liaison between senior management and the medical staff, fostering strong communication and positive working relationships. The Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with credentialing standards, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the continuing education and administrative needs of the medical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Credentialing and Compliance:

Initiate, develop, and maintain Credentialing Policies, Medical Staff Bylaws, and associated regulations. Coordinate the appointment and reappointment process for all medical staff and allied health practitioners, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and State Department of Health standards.

Administrative Leadership:

Provide administrative support to the Chief of Staff, Department Chairs, and Committee Chairs. Prepare materials, agendas, and minutes for required meetings. Manage and supervise the Medical Staffing Services Department, including budget preparation and oversight.

Data Management:

Oversee and develop computer programs for recording and maintaining credentialing statistics and peer review data. Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of all practitioner records.

Liaison Role:

Serve as a trusted advisor to the medical staff, assisting with daily administrative procedures and medical staff affairs. Act as an ex-officio member of the Credentials, Bylaws, and Education Committees.

Continuing Medical Education (CME):

Assist the Vice President of Medical Affairs with CME functions and maintain compliance with CT State Medical Society regulations.

Special Projects and Support:

Organize and coordinate special medical staff activities and provide a variety of support services to physicians, including overseeing the Physician Referral Service.

Requirements:

Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital environment within a medical staff services department.

Advanced knowledge of the credentialing process, including Medical Staff Bylaws and Joint Commission standards.

Certification in CMSC (Certified Medical Staff Coordinator), CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist), or CPMSM (Certified Provider Medical Services Management) is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical staff organization, and related legal requirements.

Proficiency in medical staff software, data entry, and maintaining intranet systems for medical staff services.

Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Ability to solve problems independently, prioritize tasks, manage projects, and adapt to changes in priorities.
