Apply online at www.valleymed.org/careers REQ #2023-1229PREREQUISITES:Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent years of relevant and applicable experience may substitute.Three years of extensive experience working with the credentialing process and other Medical Staff Services functions.Current certification by National Association of Medical Staff Services as Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience required.Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and proficiency with one or more credentialing database applications.QUALIFICATIONS:Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to work with medical staff and hospital leaders.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and to maintain strict confidentiality.Ability to complete multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.Exhibits leadership skills.Demonstrated ability to give and take direction.Demonstrated ability to mentor and counsel others.UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and can lift boxes of paper weighing up to 20 lbs.UNIQUE JOB FUNCTIONS:Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory agencies (i.e., Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), Washington Department of Health) and federal and state regulations.Ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations of the medical staff and policies and procedures related to the medical staff.Ensure timely and efficient processes for coordinating the credentialing and privileging of new medical staff members through the maintenance of credentialing database system.Apply the principles of continuous quality improvement in delivery of medical staff services; assess and monitor medical staff services department functions, processes, and systems; analyze trends and implement changes as required.Ensure Medical Staff Office and credentialing processes are following medical staff policies and procedures, The Joint Commission, legal and all regulatory and accrediting agency standards.Ensure compliance with delegated credentialing agreements.Interpret, explain, and follow all regulatory guidelines, including medical staff bylaws, fair hearing plan, rules and regulations and policies.Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team approach to ensure medical staff member concerns are addressed through established medical staff processes.Coordinate with quality department to ensure facilitation of both Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE).In coordination with risk manager, ensure timely and proper notification regarding any probable claims involving peer reviewed cases.Support Medical Staff Committees’ activities; ensure that minutes accurately reflect discussions and actions taken in associated medical staff meetings.Provide direction and oversight for personnel preparing and maintaining ER call schedules.Support the Chief of Staff, Chiefs of departments, Chief Medical Officer, Chair of Professional Practice Committee (PPC) in the context of their responsibilities and credentialing roles. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Executive Officer, or Medical Director for Medical Staff Services.Serve as key liaison to clinical department administrators, department/service-line leaders and other personnel regarding the medical staff member’s credentials and granted privileges.Utilize any computer software program(s) necessary to support the credentialing process and maintain the centralized physician/provider database including data entry and scanning of appropriate documents directly into database; maintain data sufficient to pre-populate applications supported by database.Oversee all administrative duties such as employee hiring, training, development, evaluation, job description development, policy development and new employee orientation.
