Patient Care Associate - Cardiac Surgical Stepdown Unit - Ellison 8
Why This Role Is Important?Ellison 8 is a thirty-six bed adult Cardiac Surgical Step Down Unit. Patients are primarily admitted post-operatively from the Blake 8 - Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Patients are also admitted pre-op for cardiac surgery. Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, congenital heart disease, lethal arrhythmias, S/P coronary bypass graft, S/P valve replacement, ACID placement, and permanent pacemaker placement. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. Ellison 8 is seeking a PCA, with Day and Night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

What are we looking for?PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

QualificationsRequired:
Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.Preferred:
Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire,
OR
Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
