The NP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises and interprets diagnostic and laboratory test, prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease. The NP promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury. The NP practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to treat and manage patient health problems. The roles of the NP include direct patient/family care, consultation, research, advocacy for patients/families/groups/communities, performance improvement, and leadership & professional development.QUALIFICATIONSCurrent Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse is requiredCurrent Georgia Authorization/Certification as a NP Advanced Practice Registered Professional Nurse is requiredCurrent American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is requiredMaster's Degree in Nursing from the Georgia Board of Nursing Graduate School NP program is requiredPrevious experience in area of specialty preferredORSUMMARYThe Physician Assistant, under the direction of the supervising Physician, is responsible for providing age-specific, culturally and ethnically sensitive clinical evaluations, problem assessments, initiation of diagnostic and treatment plans, and educating patients presenting for care. Performs emergency intervention and patient triage. Complies with all rules and regulations of the appropriate licensing board and maintains continuing medical education. By the end of the first year, the employee requires M.D. consultation less than 40% of the time on Patient Management activities.
