Mid Level Structure Engineer

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for a mid-level Structure Engineer for our Superior Township, MI facility.
Summary
Design and develop components for the vehicle structure (body-in-white/BIW Upperbody & Underbody) We need passionate engineers who want to be responsible for developing our future vehicles The parts you develop will be on vehicles you see on the road
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop body structure components and systems for new vehicles, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, with a focus on lightweight, high-strength Steel and Aluminum materials Conduct research and analysis to identify key design requirements and develop innovative solutions for electric vehicle platforms Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of body structure systems with other vehicle subsystems, including battery systems and electric powertrains Support & Interface with manufacturing teams and design studio for vehicle development Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and validation reports Study and interpret vehicle performance and test results (FMVSS, IIHS, NVH, R&H, Body Torsional Stiffness, etc) Create and manage a Bill of Materials, with updated weights at each stage of the vehicle development Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and team members Participate in benchmarking activities to study competitive OEM's structural strategies Experience using Computer-Aided Design Tools (ideally CATIA V5, but not required) and Engineering tools to create and modify 2D and 3D drawings Communicate and cooperate closely between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters Travel up to 20% of time domestically and/or internationally: South Korea travel for early development and North American plant travel for pre-production build support

Engineers should be able to demonstrate:
Good working knowledge of vehicle structure design, material properties, and assembly process Good working knowledge of vehicle body performance and NVH performance Knowledge of mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering design and processes Knowledge of tooling design variables and processes along with related material Innovative thinking and proactive approaches to the technical direction of Structure components Good communication to enhance cooperation with other teams Familiarity with MS Office to prepare reports/spreadsheets as necessary to support project work Basic CAD and 3D design experience. CATIA V5 experience is preferred, but not required Self-motivated to learn more, do more, achieve more
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience Valid Driver's License & satisfactory driving record Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai Kia must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
