Department Overview

The BDC Fund Accounting Department is responsible for the financial and investor reporting associated with Golub Capital’s Business Development Companies (“BDCs”), which includes Golub Capital BDC, Inc. (NASDAQ: GBDC), Golub Capital Direct Lending Corporation, Golub Capital Direct Lending Unlevered Corporation, Golub Capital BDC 4, Inc., and Golub Capital Private Credit Fund. The team provides accounting and SEC reporting for the BDCs and their subsidiaries pursuant to the governing operating and investment management agreements and in accordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. BDC Fund Accounting also provides Golub Capital’s management companies and leadership with reporting and analysis in support of existing business and new initiatives. Key responsibilities within the group include monthly closes and ongoing maintenance of each BDC’s general ledger; preparation of monthly internal management reports; preparation of quarterly financial statements on Form 10-Q or 10-K; production of quarterly investor reporting; support of annual external audits; forecasting fund performance; setup and ongoing maintenance of investor capital accounts for Golub Capital Direct Lending Corporation, Golub Capital Direct Lending Unlevered Corporation, and Golub Capital BDC 4, Inc.; and coordinating technical system implementations while focusing on process automation. The BDC Fund Accounting Department interacts extensively with Golub Capital’s Operations, Treasury, Tax, Investor Relations, Business Development, Compliance, Technology Solutions, and Valuation Teams.

Position Responsibilities

The Financial Analyst is an important role within the BDC Fund Accounting Team as it seeks to support a growing firm, build a world-class, customer-focused finance team, and drive operational excellence. While reporting to a manager or senior analyst directly, the Financial Analyst will also work closely with senior management and CFO of the BDC Funds.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

Working with the Treasury Team to continuously prepare liquidity analyses of all BDC Funds to ensure sufficient liquidity exists to fund new investments.

Ensure funds are in compliance with leverage targets as outlined in Private Placement Memorandums and Form 10.

Optimize returns for investors through timely capital calls and communication with Investor Communications.

Ensure compliance as a Regulated Investment Company (“RIC”).

Plan and analyze debt capacity for levered funds.

Raise potential liquidity issues to senior management on the BDC Fund Accounting Team, suggest potential solutions, and participate in issue resolution.

Preparing and gaining an understanding of fund level analysis including, but not limited to, performance metrics, portfolio company data, yield analyses, income sensitivity, and earnings projections.

Assisting in preparation of quarterly board materials and supporting schedules including plan to actual return analysis and forecasted annual plans.

Assisting in creating and maintaining a streamlined quarterly forecasting process by responding effectively to investors and Management Team and preparing a detailed summary of the schedule of investments with main drivers.

Manipulating and analyzing large amounts of data to produce financial, accounting, reporting deliverables, and analysis.

Consistently utilizing technical/analytical skills to develop new reporting and automate current reports.

Assisting with various ad-hoc projects and requests.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (accounting or finance preferred).

Certified Corporate FP&A Professional (“FPAC”), CPA, or MBA is strongly encouraged.

1+ years of relevant experience in a similar analytical role.

Advanced proficiency in Excel required; proficiency in PowerPoint is a strong plus.

Prior experience manipulating large amounts of data.

Understanding of/exposure to Financial Company Balance Sheets, Income Statements, Statement of Cash Flows, and the consolidation of entities.

Understanding of financial metrics (leverage calculations, portfolio return calculations, IRR, and performance metrics).

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to synthesize complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and process improvement within the operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas.

Strong ability to multitask and prioritize.

Understanding of various debt facilities a plus.

Proficiency in Workday, Workiva, Adaptive, Wall Street Office, and similar packages is a strong plus.
