Yours included.This Music Therapist role will support the needs of patients under the Oncology/Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Service Line. The music therapist will support goal domains such as coping support, emotional and psychosocial support, developmental care, emotional expression, family bonding, and grief support. This service line will work closely with the interdisciplinary care team to improve patient outcomes and provide outstanding care for both patients and families.
40 hours a week (four, 10 hour days).This Music Therapist, Oncology will:Provide music therapy to support the developmental, rehabilitative, psychological, socioemotional, and psychoeducational needs of BCH patients and families from various demographic and multicultural backgrounds.Work in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to assess, evaluate, and document the therapeutic needs of patients to address the medical, procedural, surgical, diagnostic, and prognostic experiences of patients and families.Provide basic guidance and instruction on student/intern performance and interactions with patients and families.To qualify, you must have:Bachelor's degree in Music TherapyCertification or the eligibility to sit for certification exam within 18 months of hire are preferred.1 year work experience in a medical setting and/or working with children.The ability to adhere to AMTA standards of practice, code of ethics and professional competencies.Demonstrated proficient knowledge in music therapy clinical practice, musical skills, child development and the impact of healthcare on neurodevelopmental outcomes.Boston Children's Hospital offers competitive compensation and unmatched benefits including flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes.
