Job Description
: The Post-Doctoral Research Associate is assigned to the Division of Critical Care in the Department of Pediatrics at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Research will be conducted in the area of vascular biology. Candidates will study the pathophysiology of lung and vascular diseases with genetically modified mouse models and state-of-the-art technologies established in the lab such as genetic lineage tracing, genetic depletion, single-cell RNAseq analysis, and nanoparticle-mediated gene modifications such as in vivo CRISPR knockout. Candidates will plan and carry out daily experiments, analyze data, keep careful records, and write manuscripts. Excellent skill in bioinformatic analysis or medicinal chemistry is a plus.
Job Duties:
Provide researchers as requested with technical assistance.
Perform job functions adhering to principles of innovation, academic excellence, and teamwork to provide the highest quality research effort to our Institution, co-workers, and others.
Conduct genetic studies, molecular biology Redcap/Imaging software, gene chip arrays, and others.
Analyze data.
Prepare data for presentations, grants, and publications.
Help write grant proposals and progress reports related to research projects.
Participate in regular lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars.
Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ph.D. or MD in Medical or Biological Science Program.
Knowledge of computer programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Organizational skills: Ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations.
