As an Aquatic Toxicologist, you will play a vital role in current research efforts focused on fish toxicity screening in laboratory and field studies working in collaboration with our federal research partner. Your primary focus will be on algal toxins, fire-suppressing chemicals, and other environmental contaminants. You will provide essential research assistance to support experimental design, data gathering, laboratory sample processing, data management, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation with lead or co-authorship expected. Interacting with other scientists within the organization, you will also lead or co-lead experimental implementation, sample collection, curation, and processing. Your work will contribute to understanding the potential effects of algal toxins and contaminants on aquatic animal health.

Compensation & Benefits:Estimated Starting Salary Range for

Aquatic Toxicologist : $60,000 - $87,000Pay commensurate with experience.Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided.

Aquatic Toxicologist Responsibilities Include:Assist with fish toxicity screening in laboratory and field studies, focusing on algal toxins, fire suppressing chemicals, and other environmental contaminants.Provide research assistance for experimental design, data gathering, laboratory sample processing, data management, and statistical analysis of resulting data sets.Prepare and contribute to manuscript preparation with lead or co-authorship for planned projects related to assessing potential effects of algal toxins and other contaminants on aquatic animal health.Interact and collaborate with other scientists within the organization to lead or co-lead experimental implementation, sample collection, curation, and processing.Serve as a source of scientific expertise to scientists and others working in related research areas.Address information needs of federal and state agencies.Provide brief written progress updates monthly.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Aquatic Toxicologist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:Preferred: PhD in biology, toxicology, ecology, zoology, biochemistry, animal physiology, molecular biology, or a related field.Master's in biology, toxicology, ecology, zoology, biochemistry, animal physiology, molecular biology, or a related field.Essential experience in aquatic toxicology, demonstrated by at least two first-authored publications and one co-authored publication in the field.Active USAccess Clearance.Preferred experience with zebrafish, microscopy, and/or behavioral analysis.Ability to travel to field sites and meeting locations for project associated sample collections, project planning, and/or results communication. Timing and duration of travel will be determined in coordination with project needs and the selected individual's availability.Candidate must be a US Citizen or permanent resident with the ability to relocate or commute daily to Columbia, MO.Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
