Mental Health Therapist/Counselor START Program (Carpinteria)
The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is hiring Mental Health Therapists for school-based positions at local schools in Carpinteria.
This position is valuable training for those interested in doing one-on-one psychotherapy with children/youth. START Therapists receive training and experience in assessment, treatment planning, diagnosis, case management, family therapy, and appropriate documentation of all services. These skills are wonderful for therapists who are considering a career in either private practice or a clinic setting.
Opportunity to work for a well-established county-wide non-profit organization in collaboration with the school district.
Fun and rewarding position working with children/youth and families.
Paid training and clinical supervision (group & triad) provided.
Position available at a middle school and elementary school.
Qualifications:
MFT, AMFT, LCSW, ACSW, LPCC, or APCC with current registration with BBS REQUIRED (Application in process with BBS-post MA grad is acceptable)
Experience working with children/adolescents (preferably in a school setting)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Job Duties:
Ongoing individual therapy for identified clients at their school sites
Assessment and treatment planning in collaboration with families
Meet with parents or guardians in support of clients
Support and collaborate with teachers and administrators in advocacy for clients
Maintain client charts and complete progress notes in a timely manner
Complete client assessment and create treatment plans in conjunction with client and family
Job hours coincide with the school schedule (must be available during school hours).
Position is for the school year (approx. 10 months) with opportunity to renew.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).
Salary range is $28-$40/hr DOE with a rate increase for Bilingual (Spanish/English).

This is an in-person position, and the candidate would be required to meet with clients at the school site.
In compliance with the California Department of Health Care Services, treatment staff require an up-to-date Tuberculosis test for the duration of employment.
