The City of Ventura is now accepting applications for the position of Information Technology Project Manager.WHAT YOU’LL DOThe Information Technology Project Manager supervises staff, directs and coordinates the implementation of approximately 30 enterprise technology projects and drives the adoption of optimal project delivery through lean and agile practices, change management and meaningful measurements of progress.

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Technology Officer, the Information Technology Project Manager will provide direct supervision to a small group of project management staff, including the Business Process Analyst. The Technology Project Manager is responsible for monitoring work plans and providing independent oversight to projects that involve enterprise initiatives affecting multiple departments. Current projects include support initiatives for Fire, Water, Community Development, Public Works, City Manager's Department and Finance. Projects may be associated with cross-functional operations, involving a significant degree of systems integration or product implementation.

WHO YOU ARE

Dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal stakeholders, this Project Manager must be knowledgeable about how organizations operate, working collaboratively and maneuvering through complex situations effectively to get things done. The Project Manager must be capable of marshalling resources (people, funding, systems, vendors) to get things accomplished. The ability to anticipate and manage risk, while keeping the project on schedule, is critical.

manage multi-agency technology projects simultaneously, on-time and on-budgetdevelop and deliver quality presentationsmanage contracts, including contract negotiationsutilize Microsoft SharePoint to manage information technology projectsread situations quickly, finding common ground and getting cooperation with a minimum of noiserelate well to all people, building constructive and effective relationshipsorganize, facilitate, and manage meetingsdemonstrate budget management skills and project budget analysisCurrently, there is one full-time position available. This recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies.

(Successful candidate will need to complete an extensive post-offer Police Department background investigation.)

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO QUALIFY

A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in project management, information systems, computer science, business system analysis or a related field and four years of progressively responsible information technology project management experience including two years of responsibility and experience at leading projects and supervising staff, is required. Public agency project management experience is preferred.License : Possession of a valid class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
