Position OverviewLeads and manages actuarial function for pricing, value added services, marketing and product development for RGA U.S. Group Reinsurance’s Healthcare Excess (HCXS) business unit. Works closely with the HCXS business unit in setting and executing strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Leads and manages the actuarial pricing, product development and value added services for the HCXS business units, including the development and maintenance of necessary models, tools, pricing assumptions, experience studies, and controls. Ensures pricing follows RGA’s corporate pricing guidelines and U.S. Group Reinsurance guidelines.
Works closely with the HCXS business unit in setting strategy and goals, marketing, analyzing monthly financials, and creating annual financial and operational plans.
Advises on corporate actuarial initiatives and U.S. Group Reinsurance valuation, capital, and financial reporting issues impacting HCXS. Addresses U.S. Group Reinsurance and company-wide issues, as necessary.
Performs management duties including, but not limited to, hiring, developing, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
Travels as needed for meetings with potential and existing clients, as well as to industry meetings.
Serves as a member of the HCXS leadership team, including setting strategic and tactical direction, divisional goals and objectives and development of joint plans to achieve goals and objectives.
Manages completion of special projects as they arise and performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Business or related degree or equivalent related work experience
10-15 years life, health or medical insurance/reinsurance experience
Fellowship, Society of Actuaries (FSA) accreditation
Pricing or product development experience
Preferred:
15+ years group life, health, or medical insurance/reinsurance experience
5+ years management experience
