POSITION SUMMARYThe Vice President will be an integral leader and change agent within the North American Finance Group. This role will be responsible for accounting/reporting related to various business units (Travel, Accident & Disability, Warranty, and Lenders Services). This role will be critical in helping form strategy and shaping the future of the Finance department - including modernizing and making more efficient processes and data quality - for some key significant and growing operations within Arch.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Cultivate strong business partnerships while gaining a thorough understanding of the business being supported; leverage understanding of business to make informed recommendations. Work closely with underwriting team to understand the business and provide the financial operational support.

Manage the accounting and reporting for the business units. Oversee the teams responsible for booking of premium, commission, ceded premium, ceding commission, losses, etc.

Manage calculation and booking of ceded reinsurance contracts and ensure accounting is in line with contract terms.

Work closely with other departments to ensure set-up of current and new business activities is accurate and efficient.

Take part in special projects, including testing and implementation of new systems, process improvements (including early close issue) and data quality initiatives.

Will have extensive interaction with various departments/disciplines at the group, including other areas in finance, actuarial, legal, reinsurance, claims, and IT.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated leadership, people management, and developmental skills.

Dynamic and motivated individual, capable of handling complex structured tasks that require close attention to timing and detail, as well as unplanned projects and challenges that require effective and unique solutions, often in a compressed timeframe.

Experience with and exposure to various operational disciplines (actuarial, underwriting, claims, IT, etc.).

Ability to effectively communicate analysis and conclusions to financial information end-users.

Hands-on experience and strong aptitude with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals across organizational lines.

Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.

Ability to analyze, organize, and present information in a clear and succinct manner.

Ability to take part in active strategic discussions.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum 12 years of North American property and casualty insurance industry experience, including statutory accounting experience.

Finance or accounting degree.

Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant is a plus.

CPCU or other Insurance designations is a plus.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$166,900 - $225,300/year

Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above range may be modified in the future.
