POSITION SUMMARY:

Duties of the Director include, but are not limited to, university assessment of student learning and academic program outcomes in collaboration with Deans, faculty, the Office of Institutional Research, and other academic staff; development and implementation of methods to assess institutional functions including student learning and co-curricular activities; professional development and training for faculty and staff related to assessment activities; reporting and communicating assessment results; and creating and enacting plans based on assessment results. The Director also plays a significant role in accreditation and other projects that document the University’s commitment to student learning and the improvement of institutional effectiveness. The ideal candidate will be an articulate advocate for assessment and a productive, creative problem-solver.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and support the development of meaningful assessment activities across campus.

Work collegially with School Deans and faculty to ensure that assessment of student learning is timely, effective, and efficient.

Assist the School of Education with teacher-education assessment and related reports.

Manage all Office of Assessment initiatives and staff.

Organize and update assessment data entrusted to the Office of Assessment.

Assist with analysis, evaluation, and reporting of assessment activities.

Communicate assessment literature and best practices and provide training and professional development for faculty and relevant staff.

With the Vice President of Academic Affairs, co-chair the University Assessment Committee and serve on other committees as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree required with a strong preference for degrees with quantitative methods or demonstrated expertise with quantitative methods. A doctoral degree and university-level teaching experience are preferred. Teaching assignments may be available depending on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Previous experience with university assessment and survey development and deployment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Applicants must have strong verbal and written communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, individual initiative, enthusiasm to learn, and the ability to work closely with faculty and staff.

Demonstrable experience with MS Office software including MS Word, MS Excel, and course evaluation and survey software.

Familiarity with Watermark Student Learning and Licensure, Canvas LMS, and/or Ellucian Colleague is desirable.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) is a public liberal arts college located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, about 40 minutes from Oklahoma City.
