DescriptionBecome part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 diverse employees, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the unique communities we serve.The UNC Infectious Diseases at Eastowne - UNC Faculty Physicians Center at Eastowne (UNC ID Clinic) specializes in treating people with infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, TB, other sexually transmitted diseases, and acute and chronic infections. Outpatient medicine is a critical infectious diseases activity, and the UNC ID Clinic meets five days each week at the UNC Diabetes & Endocrinology Clinic at Eastowne. Located in the UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building, the clinic provides care for more than 2300 patients.This position will support the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Treatment Program clinical services. Qualified applicants will have experience in home infusion nursing, knowledge of infusion devices, and the ability to troubleshoot issues. The RN will be responsible for communication with ID/OPAT patients, obtaining weekly lab results and recording them in the weekly monitoring EPIC note, performing OPAT onboard calls to patients, and working with OPAT patients in the clinic as needed.Experience Preferred : Ability to independently change central vascular access device dressing, basic assessment of vascular site and patency of line. Knowledge of troubleshooting all types of IV lines for home infusion. Experience with types of home infusion devices and IV medication administration protocols. Minimum 3 years working as home infusion RN. Accessing Port-a-Cath, administration of Cathflo, and experience with the role of home health agency staff and the home infusion patient.Responsibilities:Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers.Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of the plan of care. Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care.Implementation - Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.Leadership - With assistance, develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations. Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.Patient Assessment - Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs.Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care.
