Outpatient medicine is a critical infectious diseases activity, and the UNC ID Clinic meets five days each week at the

UNC Diabetes & Endocrinology Clinic at Eastowne . Located in the

UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building , the clinic provides care for more than 2300 patients. The clinic provides treatment for numerous infectious diseases including: HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, tuberculosis, MRSA, sexually transmitted diseases and more. A variety of outpatient infectious diseases are evaluated by the consult service.

This position will support the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Treatment Program clinical services. Qualified applicant will have experience in home infusion nursing, knowledge of infusion devices and able to troubleshoot issues. RN will be responsible for communication with ID/OPAT patients, obtaining weekly lab results and recording in weekly monitoring EPIC note, performing OPAT Onboard calls to patients and working with OPAT patients in clinic as needed.Experience Preferred

– Ability to independently change central vascular access device dressing, basic assessment of vascular site and patency of line. Knowledge of troubleshooting all types of IV lines for home infusion. Experience with types of home infusion devices and IV medication administration protocols. Minimum 3 years working as home infusion RN. Accessing Port-a-Cath, administration of Cathflo, experience with role of home health agency staff and the home infusion patient.Summary: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.This position qualifies for a $10,000 incentive. Is knowledgeable about activities which facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration. Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Is aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the health care environment. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all.5. Patient Assessment - Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful whole prior to communication to others. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs.6. Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care. Makes use of available multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Begins to use full range of communication as a means to convey planning.
