Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Data Analyst for the department of Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.The Data Analyst will support faculty within the Joint Program in Population and Prevention Sciences (J3PS) – a joint program of the Department of Pediatrics and the Child Health Institute of NJ. In this role, the analyst will support collaborative research in the areas of systemic influences of health (e.g. social determinants of health, health system impacts, forces related to equity and disparities) related to primary care practices. The analyst will perform analyses independently and in collaboration with faculty and postdoctoral fellows, support faculty and postdoctoral fellow research, and may propose and conduct independent studies of interest to program directors, faculty, and fellows. Additionally, the analyst will develop and curate a data corps of publicly available data under the direction of program leadership.Key Duties

Work with project leadership to develop valid and reliable plans for analyses consistent with underlying conceptual and operational models and the study design.Collaborate, develop, and suggest epidemiological and statistical analyses supporting faculty research projects. Implement these analyses once agreed upon.Develop and run statistically advanced programs in SAS, STATA, and R as appropriate for the research question and project.Collaborate with biostatisticians, epidemiologists, other analysts, and methodologists as needed.Lead and perform quantitative components of mixed methods and evaluation projects as necessary.Work with multiple Primary Investigators (PIs) and advance projects simultaneously while effectively multitasking.Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, social science methods, clinical investigation, or related field.3 years of relevant experience.Experience in an academic medical center environment.Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Computer literacy including experience using statistical analysis software and data entry management.Experience with Stata and R.Expertise in demography and sociological methods.Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, with the ability to function independently and as a team member.Proficiency in database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication skills and willingness to work closely with clinical and research faculty.Keep abreast of new technologies and computer methods.Preferred Qualifications

Prior work experience as a data analyst or statistical programmer, preferably in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, or similar environments.Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing. No special vision requirements.Work Environment: Moderate noise (business office with computers and printers, light traffic). This position is on-site, but opportunities for hybrid work may be permissible in accordance with Rutgers/RBHS policies.Special Conditions
