The Atlantic Region Property and Casualty (P&C) practice, with locations in Boston MA, Burlington VT, and Atlanta GA, provides actuarial consulting services on a range of projects across the insurance, reinsurance, insurance-linked securities (ILS) and alternative-risk markets. We work with a diverse set of clients including self-insured corporations, commercial insurance companies, governmental agencies, risk pools, and financial investors and other participants in the ILS space. Using a variety of Milliman products and practice-built tools, we look to establish and develop the cutting edge of actuarial practice in each of our professional niches, and provide our clients with trusted partnership and advice to advance the financial well-being of people everywhere.
The team is a focused and tight-knit group, working together across multiple locations. Team members work on a range of client projects of various sizes, and we employ a highly integrated project structure that encourages interaction across all members of the team, from Analysts to the Principals who serve as client leads. While most of our team’s time is spent working with members of the practice, we also have assignments that are completed in partnership with other Milliman offices around the world.
What You Will Do
The Data Analyst role provides essential analytical support for our Actuarial Analysts and Consultants. The Data Analyst will be expected to perform data review, report updates, basic quantitative analysis, quality assurance, and project document editing. More complicated work will be assigned as the Data Analyst develops their skills and hones their abilities.
The Data Analyst’s work is crucial to the final work product we submit to our clients. As such, the position requires the utmost professionalism and strong communication skills – both in-person and written – to collaborate successfully with colleagues and clients.
Much of the Data Analyst’s work will be done in Excel, but supplemental data analysis methodologies and technical skills are highly valued, such as programming in SQL, Python, and/or R. Prior insurance experience is beneficial but not required; we will teach you the key concepts of analyzing and forecasting insurance reserves and rates.
The Data Analyst position does not include enrollment in our actuarial exam program, nor is this person expected to pursue a credential with the Casualty Actuarial Society.
