364518About the JobInvestment Manager, Minneapolis, MN - As part of the University of Minnesota's Office of Investments and Banking, Investment Manager supports the investment activities of the University's ~$2.1B endowment fund. Primary responsibility is on sourcing, researching, diligencing, recommending, and monitoring equity-oriented investments, with extensive involvement across the full spectrum of liquid and illiquid asset classes and strategies utilized in the endowment, which includes: traditional rates and credit, private credit, public equities, private equity, venture capital, real assets and hedge funds. Area(s) of focus at any point in time will be directed by the Chief Investment Officer based on an amalgamation of considerations such as market environment and opportunity, current portfolio dynamics, and/or the Investment Manager's particular areas of expertise or familiarity. Conduct deep-dive initial and ongoing due diligence on investment strategies, managers and co-investment opportunities across various asset classes. Produce detailed investment memorandums and summaries for presentation to the Investment Advisory Committee. Play a key role in shaping portfolio strategy and design in partnership with other members of the OIB investment team. Lead research projects regarding various asset classes, investment strategies and/or thematic market opportunities. Collaborating (e.g. tag-teaming or playing devil's advocate) with other members of the OIB investment team on research and manager diligence efforts. Cultivate networks and relationships across the industry to improve sourcing quality and stay abreast of key trends and best practices. Assist in the preparation of investment committee meeting presentation materials. Partner with internal general counsel and OIB's operations manager to review and negotiate legal documents. Conduct diligence and make recommendations to the various governing groups about local investment opportunities associated with Minnesota's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Venture Program and the University's designated technology commercialization fund, known as Discovery Capital. May work on environmental, social and governance policy and strategy, performance and risk analytics, data management, operating pool investment strategy, defined contribution retirement program design and oversight and/or broader finance-related projects supporting the University. Domestic and International travel 10-25%.
