MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Optimization of methods, including ICP/MS, HPLC, titration, FTIR, UV/Vis, USP, AOAC methods, reagent preparation, glassware cleaning, development of methods, reporting results.

Validate laboratory methods.

Manage laboratory projects (including method development, instrument maintenance, documentation, etc.)

Perform moderate to complex mathematical calculations.

Work with customers and suppliers if issues arise to determine best testing methods for raw material or finished goods.

Accurate and timely recording of testing parameters on specified documents.

Audits outsource labs as needed.

Qualify outsourced labs.

Interpretation of data and observations in the lab.

Seen as expert by outsourced labs in helping determine proper methods and techniques.

Verify internal lab methods are being followed.

Responsible to maintain ISO 17025 accreditation.

Add necessary methods to ISO 17025 accreditation.

REQUIREMENTS

Ability to perform all tasks defined above.

Certified by National Registry of Certified Chemists preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a science discipline required, Masters preferred.

10+ years’ experience in a professional laboratory setting required.

7+ years' experience in related industry (nutraceuticals, food and beverage, pharmaceutical).

Must have working knowledge of computers including MS Office applications.

Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.

Must be familiar with all OSHA and GMP regulations.

Must possess the ability to develop and maintain a teamwork environment.

Ability to move about to accomplish tasks.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations relative to job requirements.

Ability to write and prepare business letters, memorandums and reports.

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Ability to stand, stoop, reach and crouch. Reasonable accommodations may be made where necessary.

Working knowledge of scientific principles relating to analytical chemistry.

Attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.

WORK CONDITIONS

Subject to moderate noise level.

Subject to high noise levels where hearing protection may be required.

Subject to atmospheric conditions, such as fumes from reagents, odors, powders, dust and other particles.
