About the Department:

The Office of the University Registrar actively supports and leads change while serving as a strategic partner to those the Office serves, focusing on ways to become more efficient, effective, and improving services to university constituents in meeting the needs of an evolving higher educational environment.

About the Position:

The Senior Programmer Analyst plays a key role in supporting the department and university's missions. The position requires a balance of technical and customer-service responsibilities. Manages the Registrar's requests line, confirms eligibility of requestors, availability of data, and verifies that customer requirements including deadlines are met. Works with departmental leadership to create and maintain message campaigns to students and faculty using the Banner Communications Manager application. Key player in planning, implementing, testing, and managing the delivery of technology initiatives, including Banner and related software packages. Participates in user acceptance testing of quarterly and off-cycle upgrades to ensure that current functionality is maintained and evaluates new functionality for use by the department. Serves as a Registrar's representative on Banner-related committees. Collaborates with colleagues in ITS and across campus when implementing new projects. Provides technical support for Registrar's Office staff members.

Responsibilities:

Report and Data Request Management:

Manage the Registrar's requests line. Evaluate incoming requests for clarity, authorized access to data, particularly FERPA training of the requestor, and delivery expectations. Leverage Team Dynamix to manage incoming requests. Use the system to communicate with customers and team members about data requirements and solutions, maintaining relevant correspondence on associated tickets. Perform information retrieval and analysis from Banner and related data sources using SQL Developer and other BI tools such as MicroStrategy to meet customer requirements. Ensure that requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.

Banner Communications Management:

Produce communications to students and faculty using the Banner Communications Manager application (BCM). Develop and maintain queries, templates, and other elements necessary to process batch messages. Use the departmental Production Calendar to plan and send scheduled communications. Coordinate directly with the Registrar's Office leadership to develop and prepare new message campaigns.

Systems and User Support:

Monitor, evaluate, test, and validate application functionality including patches, point releases, and upgrades. Collaborate with IT staff and vendors to provide operational support for end users. Apply appropriate methodologies for system support. Participate in user acceptance testing of quarterly and off-cycle upgrades to ensure that current functionality is maintained and evaluate new functionality for use by the department. Keep current on system upgrades through participation in vendor and user-based e-communities, as well as reading system documentation. Maintain code and use-case libraries. Serve as a Registrar's representative on Banner-related committees. Collaborate with colleagues in ITS and across campus when implementing new projects. Provide technical support for Registrar's Office staff members. Work effectively with stakeholders across multiple functional areas to ensure their needs are met.

General/Other Duties:

Perform various other duties where the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. Provide general assistance to the department as requested and needed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Demonstrated experience reporting from large complex databases;

Proven experience analyzing customers' business requirements and designing solutions to satisfy their needs;

Knowledge of Windows, associated PC productivity tools, Oracle, including strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL;

Demonstrated skill in a combination of systems, data, and business analysis;

Ability to lead a project team and mentor staff in advanced techniques;

Ability to analyze technical issues and problems effectively; and

Ability to understand complex relational database designs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field;

Experience working in a university setting;

Experience performing technical user support;

Experience with ERP student modules (Banner, Oracle) and related database design;

Experience with the following applications: Automic Applications Manager (AppWorx), Banner Document Management System (BDMS, WebXtender), CourseLeaf, Dynamic Forms, MicroStrategy, Salesforce, and Stellic; and

Knowledge of Ellucian Banner, SQL Developer.
