Director of Nursing

General PurposeYou will perform a range of duties including maintaining department budgets, setting long-term goals, and overseeing record-keeping processes. The ideal candidate for this position has proven experience in a nursing leadership role, outstanding organizational skills, and in-depth knowledge of healthcare industry policies.

Essential Job Duties

Assure that effective quality nursing care is delivered which is outcome focused through utilization of the nursing process. Identify needs and provide input for discharge planning and follow-up throughout length of stay.

Manage and lead all nursing personnel clinical operations.

Develop short and long-term goals for the entire nursing department.

Establish new policies and update existing policies to improve the standard of care for patients.

Plan and oversee admission, nursing, and patient care processes.

Maintain department budgets and record all expenses.

Respond to any nursing-related issues in a timely manner.

Coordinate with medical staff and other departments to ensure hospital efficiency.

Oversee all record-keeping processes and ensure all necessary documents are accurate and up to date.

Hire and train new nursing staff members.

Evaluate staff performance and prepare accurate reports detailing your findings.

Develop individualized plan of care in collaboration with the resident/responsible party and the interdisciplinary care team.

Implement plan of care consistently, effectively and cost efficiently with focus on resident centered outcomes by utilizing all appropriate, available resources for resident/family/responsible party counseling and discharge planning. Work in collaboration with physician and/or other health care professionals by sharing information relevant to changing plan of care.

Deliver and maintain optimum resident care and comfort by demonstrating knowledge and skills of current nursing practices.

Qualifications

Must hold and maintain a current license to practice as an RN in the state of Nebraska.

Must hold and maintain a current CPR certification.

Recent clinical experience, education, or specialty skills specific to geriatrics.

Demonstrate understanding that State and Federal rules and regulations govern the practices within the facility.

Ongoing pursuit of Continuing Education Credits in clinical subjects, management, personal growth, and development.

Demonstrate working knowledge of infection control principles and practices.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information.

Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels.
