The Nurse V (Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services) is an advanced healthcare executive who demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to ensure the continuous and timely availability of quality nursing practice in a variety of complex patient care services and programs. A relocation incentive may be authorized for highly qualified candidates; PCS authorized.Responsibilities:

The Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services (DADPCS) is a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and a healthcare executive within nursing services. The incumbent is a spokesperson for organized nursing services and works to ensure the integration and collaboration of nursing with other professional disciplines and functional areas in achieving optimal Veteran-centered organizational goals in the facility. The DADPCS works closely with the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS) as a collaborator and partner in strategic planning, organization assessment, and program development. They are responsible for the practice of nursing 24/7, including all registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and allied health staff (LPNs, NAs, etc.). They have line authority over the Chief Nurses (CN) and may have additional duties assigned by the ADPCS. The incumbent exercises preliminary approval for job descriptions, policies, procedures, standards of patient care, treatment, nursing practice standards, staffing plans, functional statements, and standards to measure, assess, and improve patient outcomes. The incumbent appropriately delegates activities to services assigned under the purview of the ADPCS. This position may require flexibility in schedule and assignments.Requirements:U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.You may be required to serve a probationary period.Subject to background/security investigation.Must pass pre-employment physical examination.Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration HCP.Qualifications:English Language Proficiency: Proficient in basic written and spoken English.Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.Preferred Experience:DNP or PhD in Nursing.5 years of nursing leadership experience.2 years of executive leadership experience.Demonstration of successful process improvements at a facility-wide or system-wide level.Physical Requirements:

This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, and sitting. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing.Education Additional Information:
