Senior Principal Systems Engineer

and a member of

Secure Mission Solutions Engineering , you'll immerse yourself in the intricacies of

Trusted Mission Processors, Networks, Solid State Storage, and Time Synchronization , bringing your acumen to the forefront of innovation and ensuring the efficacy and security of systems that are vital to national defense.

You do not have to have previous mission processors experience; we will provide the training and tools to help grow the skills you will need to become a subject matter expert. You will learn from the best and brightest working at Collins Aerospace. This position is for

Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

What YOU Will Do:

Lead the capture, analysis, decomposition, and tracing of system and subsystem requirements integrated with architectural modeling.

Build intricate models using SysML for activity, state, block diagrams, and use cases.

Plan and track project level work to meet schedule, cost, and performance goals.

Manage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects.

Interact with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Business Developers, Finance, Quality, and Production.

Understand and support the build, test, quality, and customer acceptance review processes.

Represent Systems engineering team at internal and external customer meetings.

Serve as a liaison with functional discipline groups, internal and external customers.

Travel occasionally to support program requirements.

Provide on-site presence, often in a classified lab.

What YOU Will Learn:

Application Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to cutting edge solution for emerging technologies.

Qualifications YOU Must Have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience

or

an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

or

in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of Systems Engineers.

Effective communication skills with all levels of management, program team members, and external stakeholders.

Proven experience in systems engineering to include capturing customer requirements, operations concept development, deriving and tracing system and subsystem requirements.

Proven experience building intricate models via Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML, with in-depth knowledge of tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance.

Agile experience working as a scrum master, product owner, RTE, or other agile leadership roles.

Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), and earned value management experience.

Working knowledge of bidding and project/task estimation tools (e.g., SEER products).

Experience with processes such as peer review, configuration, and change management.

Participating in root cause and corrective action analysis.

Experience with Military concepts of operations.

Experience with secure systems, including INFOSEC certification.

Experience with tactical processors, IP network management, solid-state storage solutions, or time synchronization.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
