The Cornish IT Department is looking to add a System Administrator to their team. The System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Cornish’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems. This role involves planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The System Administrator will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure.

Monitor system performance, network traffic, and security to ensure optimal functioning.

Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to all hardware and software.

Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other network services.

Provide technical support to internal users and troubleshoot issues promptly.

Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.

Ensure system security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.

Document system configurations, changes, and maintenance procedures.

Collaborate with other IT staff and departments to improve overall IT service and support.

Manage vendor relationships and procure necessary hardware and software.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

2+ years of experience in system administration or a similar role.

Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration.

Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Proficiency in managing Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and other core services.

Experience with Microsoft Entra management & Intune implementation.

Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Teams, Zoom).

Understanding of network protocols and configurations (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN).

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Higher Education.

Experience as a Google Workspace Administrator.

Networking experience, including configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.

Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Network+).

Demonstrates a curious mindset and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Working Conditions:

Standard office hours with occasional after-hours or weekend work as needed.

Availability for emergency issues.
