Our dedicated and compassionate employees are driven by a common mission: To deliver the cures of tomorrow to the people who need them today.POSITION SUMMARYThe position is responsible for establishing physician culture and efficiency in practice across the region.The Chief Clinical Officer serves as a key partner in the development and implementation of clinical research in the region.Ensures compliance with all clinical, research, academic, quality, and safety goals and standards.Accountabilities related to administrative leadership and achievement of City of Hope's goals and strategies.Lead physician recruitment, care model development, quality/patient safety issues, and patient experience for all City of Hope Chicago sites.Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.Effectively manage administrative duties and clinical practice, role modeling clinical leadership, patient-centered care, and physician community building.LEADERSHIP & STRATEGYWorks with leadership to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and clinical research services are delivered consistently.Provides clinical and research expertise to the development of strategic growth plans.Coordinates the development and implementation of standards for quality/patient safety and care coordination.Works collaboratively with leadership, nursing, operational, and community network leaders to support strategic goals.Accountability for performance of City of Hope Chicago physicians against established metrics.Provide input to the President and appropriate Chairs in evaluation and promotion decisions.Oversees compliance with standards and requirements of licensing and accrediting agencies.Ensures appropriate physician coverage for all clinical services across the region.Assists in developing communication plans for consistency in messaging.Oversees the implementation of clinical pathways and protocols across all locations.Provides support and guidance in the development of order sets and features in the electronic medical record system.Responsible for leading the development of workflows and care models supportive of patient experience and provider engagement.ADMINISTRATIONLeads budgeting and planning for areas of responsibility.Collaborates with leaders to identify opportunities to improve patient quality, safety, and experience.Provides input for operational reports, including budgetary and strategic planning.Supports philanthropy efforts within the region.Provides management oversight for physician engagement and culture.BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTParticipates in business development opportunities supporting City of Hope Chicago goals.Supports physicians in outreach efforts and identifying opportunities.Attends potential future location site visits and speaks at welcome events.Collaborates with media relations on community events.Engages with non-COH physicians to build relationships and educate on programs.PHYSICIAN RECRUITMENTCoordinates with leadership in long-term planning and recruitment of physicians.Utilizes network for identification of potential physician candidates.On-boards new physicians into City of Hope Chicago.Partners with physician organization on contracting and re-contracting.RESEARCH & EDUCATIONPartners in the development and implementation of a clinical research growth plan.Oversight of research evolution in the region.Plays a key role in implementing the system's precision medicine strategy.Facilitates relationships with physicians to advance scientific endeavors.Collaborates with internal and external teams effectively.Provides presentations to expand knowledge on disease states.Liaises with key opinion leaders in clinical research.Attends and presents at industry meetings.Enhances educational and training programs.Ensures orientation and continuing education of all physicians.SKILLS/ABILITIESExperience managing physician relationships in complex healthcare operations.Financial analysis and fiscal management skills.Effective servant-leader demonstrating COH culture.Creative thinking about patient-centric services.Strategic thinking and operationalizing business plans.Collaboration with physicians in patient care program development.Understanding of healthcare financing and strategy.Ability to distill complex problems into clear steps.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.Passion for healthcare and commitment to City of Hope's mission.High ethics and strong values; unwavering integrity.REPORTS TO ROLEAll City of Hope Chicago physiciansREPORTS TOCity of Hope System Physician Executive and City of Hope Chicago PresidentREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMD or DO required. Significant clinical and administrative experience in a health science center or comparable organization. Board-certified with understanding of physician management and healthcare delivery.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in business, healthcare, or related discipline.EXPERIENCEEight years of management experience in a large, multi-specialty oncology practice; 5+ years as a Medical Director or Physician Executive/Leader in a hospital or health system.APPLY NOW!
