The individual selected for this position will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and supervision of various analytical equipment used in the Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences for various projects involving the analysis of soil, water, and plant materials.

Essential FunctionsEssential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Supervise and train all personnel involved in using the equipment as requested by faculty.

Provide general maintenance, repairs, and calibration on instrumentation and equipment and order supplies as needed.

Assist faculty and graduate students with methods for new protocols in the department.

Coordinate usage and service fees with faculty responsible for various instruments.

Assist with the set-up and teaching of the teaching laboratories associated with this laboratory. Maintain compliance with all safety regulations associated with instrumentation and supplies for instrumentation and ensure that all users are properly trained and are complying with safety regulations; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree related to analytical chemistry, soil science, or closely related field.

Experience:

3 years of Experience in the coordination of lab operations, maintenance, procedures, and research.

Knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety procedures is required.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

Minimum Skills and AbilitiesEffective communication skills, technical experience, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are essential. Candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the U.S. by the employment date and continue working legally for the proposed term of the appointment.

GHG ,

HPLC ,

UPLC ), ion chromatography, spectrophotometer (UV-Vis, fluorescence,

FTIR ), microwave assists extractions and digestions, freeze-driers, water purification systems, large centrifuges, soil and tissue grinders, and drying ovens.
