Candidates must be able to:

Be the expert in the nonconformance flow and each factor of the nonconformance process.

Understand and assimilate large amounts of complex data, simplifying it for appropriate actions and communication.

Provide problem-solving approaches that are sensitive to and effective within a wide variety of cultural frames of reference, value systems, and business practices.

Work within the manufacturing and spacecraft integration process to support nonconformance resolution and proper Root Cause and Corrective Action implementation.

Use data analysis techniques to assist in the development of effective yet practical solutions and eliminate organizational obstacles for implementing positive corrective actions.

Provide substantive insight and contributions that add value to the business processes.

Successfully interact with different levels in the organization to drive nonconformance investigations and resolutions effectively and efficiently.

Work within the configuration management process to ensure processes exist and identify processes that need to be created or improved.

Work autonomously and develop metrics, reports, and business cases to drive improvement through the use of data, facts, return of investment, and risk assessments.

Articulate problem statements to lead Root Cause Analysis teams to proper Root Cause and Corrective Actions.

Contribute as a subject matter expert in at least one area of manufacturing, integration, or any other part of the product life cycle (Experience in Circuit Card Assemblies design/manufacturing or space harness assemblies preferred).

Job Responsibilities:

Reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) by identifying actionable trends, making a business case, and working within the assigned Work Center(s) to drive improvements with the end goal of reducing the number of Non-conformances.

Review nonconformance reports for data accuracy.

Review practices, procedures, and processes seeking avenues to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce risk to product quality.

Understand technical and Mission Assurance (MA) requirements and ensure these requirements are integrated into specifications and product drawings.

Provide information in discrepancy review, failure investigations, as well as cause and corrective action determinations.

Support Mission Assurance at different review boards such as a Corrective Action Boards (CAB) and Material Review Boards (MRB).

Provide tracking and reporting metrics and support internal and external MA briefings.

Support root cause and problem-solving analysis.

Assist in monitoring the COPQ for systemic issues and make recommendations for Corrective Actions.

Ensure approved tasks from Nonconforming Reports, Material Review Boards (MRBs), and Failure Review Boards (FRBs) are completed expeditiously.

Use or review outputs from Root Cause analysis tools (Ex: Fishbone, Fault Tree, 5-Why).

Develop or contribute to Design of Experiments.

Review, design, and analyze manufacturing, integration, inspection, and testing processes and work instructions.

Position can be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or a Principal Engineer (level 3) depending on experience.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field.

Minimum of 2 years (level 2) or 5 years (level 3) of experience in at least one area of manufacturing, integration, or any other part of the product life cycle (Experience in Circuit Card Assemblies design/manufacturing or space harness assemblies preferred).

U.S. citizen.

Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI clearance.

Six Sigma/Lean training.

ASQ certifications relevant to the position.

SharePoint forms and workflows.

Excel Pivot Tables and Power Query.

Python.

Minitab.

Working knowledge of J-STD/NASA workmanship specifications, with regard to Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), Harness and Space System Integration.

Salary Range:

$79,000 - $108,000 (level 2)

Salary Range 2:

$97,000 - $136,000 (level 3)

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
