The Software Engineering Intern for Leica Biosystems is involved in the design and release of a series of sustainment, new product development, reliability improvement, or other general sustainment projects related to Leica Biosystem's product line of Aperio Whole Slide Imaging Scanners.

This position is part of the Digital Pathology Business Unit located in Vista, CA and will be on-site. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Implement software tasks, coding and debugging software applications and experimenting with design elements.

Understand the design requirements of existing products.

Develop new projects, sustaining products, and/or improving existing code.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Working towards a bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, related STEM fields, or equivalent experience.

Familiarity with Linux and Windows systems AND/OR some experience with programming script languages like Python, PHP, TypeScript, C/C++, C, C#.Net, Java.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Some experience with web development technologies like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Knowledge of full stack software product development.

Knowledge of database systems like MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, MongoDB.

Knowledge of Agile methodologies and principles, preferably Scrum/Kanban.

The hourly range for this role is $25 - $35. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
