Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

Incumbent collaborates with the attending and resident, medical staff, as well as nursing, ancillary and technical staff to coordinate the delivery of high quality, individualized, cost-effective care for epilepsy patients. Coordinates resource utilization throughout the Health System and evaluates services while performing duties in the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at the Neurodiagnostics, with major emphasis on patient care delivery, with the goal of increasing epilepsy surgical and diagnostic test volumes as well as fostering continual strategic program growth. Coordinates interdisciplinary referrals utilizing pre-established criteria for quality and appropriateness for EMU admission, ambulatory setting, and advanced epilepsy surgery. Responsible for identification, workup, and scheduling of epilepsy surgical candidates; identification and scheduling of patients for Epilepsy Monitoring Unit Admission. Performing improvement process through comprehensive analysis of patterns and trends using nursing skills. Interacts with the patient/family, participates in direct education, follows up and support during the entire course for epilepsy patients from diagnosis to treatment and post-surgical assistance.
