Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:Incumbent performs all tasks necessary to register patients, obtain necessary authorizations, verify the patient has a source of funding to cover services, and schedule patients for surgery. Responds to patient inquiries and resolves any identified issues. Additionally, performs non-licensed medical care in an assigned outpatient clinical setting as necessary.

Required Qualifications:Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling systemMust possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesMust demonstrate general understanding of medical terminologyMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobMinimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billingMedical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting Clinical / Back OfficeGeneral knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codesExperience in surgical schedulingExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishDemonstrated experience using MS OfficeBLS within 30 days of hireAbility to work weekends, holidays, and eveningsAbility to regularly travel locally to Ambulatory Clinic off-site locationsAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadAbility to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverageAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and formsFamiliarity of Joint Commission standardsBilingual in English and Spanish
