Laitram, LLC, a global manufacturing company located in Harahan, Louisiana has an opening for a Senior Tax Accountant. You’ll prepare our international tax calculations as well as some of the domestic tax calculations and assist with tax audits and international tax return compliance.

In this position you’ll serve as a key member of our tax team and will have numerous opportunities to increase your responsibilities and take on new challenges in a supportive and expanding environment.

Laitram is comprised of four operating divisions – Intralox, L.L.C., Laitram Machinery, Inc., Lapeyre Stair, Inc., and Laitram Machine Shop, L.L.C., and has been recognized for innovation and workplace excellence, including the New Orleans City Business “Best Place to Work” award.

Responsibilities:

Tax Return Compliance – Prepare international aspects of the Federal income tax return including Country by Country reporting requirements. Consider alternative tax positions in order to determine the most appropriate cost-effective filing position. Handle global transfer pricing compliance and contribute to technology and process improvements to improve the tax return compliance process. Assist with various aspects of US domestic tax compliance.

Planning Activities – Assist with federal tax estimates and participate in the review of proposed transactions to consider tax consequences including tax research.

Tax Audits and Controversies – Evaluate and handle requests for information from government officials and participate in developing strategies to successfully defend tax filing positions. Stay abreast of legal developments and industry positions in order to accurately evaluate options and responses to requests for information.

Leadership and Teamwork – Work with US and international finance groups to coordinate tax issues and initiatives. Interact with external tax advisors on a project-by-project basis.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in tax or accounting.

Minimum of 3 years directly related and progressively responsible tax experience.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

CPA and/or advance degree with an emphasis in taxation.

Some experience with US international tax law and regulations is preferred.

Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing company is preferred.

Big four accounting experience is preferred.
