Are you passionate about supporting groundbreaking research? The Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of Minnesota is seeking a dedicated histotechnician to join our Biorepository & Laboratory Services (BLS) team. Our Histology Research Laboratory provides high quality histology services and education to researchers at the University of Minnesota (UMN). This is a full service lab that specializes in routine histology, advanced histology, teaching/mentorship, digital imaging/pathology, and research collaboration and project support. In this role, you will provide vital histology support for a variety of research projects involving both human and non-human specimens. As a part of our team, you'll contribute to advancing medical research by assisting with an increasing number of exciting project requests and initiatives.Essential Functions or Job Duties

This position reports directly to the BLS Program Director.(60%) Advanced Histology Services

Immunohistochemistry (IHC)Execute existing IHC protocols using both manual and automated techniquesOptimize new IHC protocolsCollaborate with pathologists to evaluate IHC resultsCreate IHC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manualPerform pre-QC IHC and prepare slides for spatial genomicsMap and construct TMAs

(20%) Routine Histology Services

Perform high-quality routine histology procedures including specimen harvesting, fixation, embedding, cutting (FFPE and frozen), mounting, staining, and cover slipping

(20%) Research Support

Collaborate with researchers to support their unique projects and histology needsEducate and train researchers in histology techniques and equipmentDevelop, test, and document new SOPs as needed to support research projectsLearn new techniques and stay updated on histology literature to apply new techniques and novel approaches to research projectsCollaborate with other UMN departments and research cores to provide integrated project support

This is an onsite position, working in our Histology Research Laboratory located in Jackson Hall, on the East Bank campus.Qualifications

BS/BA and 4 years of related experience or education and related experience to equal 8 yearsGraduate of a 2 year NAACLS-accredited histotechnology programASCP-certified HT or HTLBenefits
