Primary Purpose:
Provide teacher support through curriculum resources, instructional coaching, and professional learning (for teachers and leaders).
Qualifications/Skills:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in related field
Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position
Bilingual certification preferred
Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law
Texas Reading Academy Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge and experience in instructional coaching
Strong content knowledge in Reading Language Arts, English Language Arts, and/or Social Studies
Knowledge of best practices for instruction for diverse learners
Ability to effectively engage adult learners in professional learning
Understanding of the needs of various groups of students such as Emergent Bilingual, Gifted/Talented, 504, Special Education, and students at risk
Establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with others
Comprehensive knowledge of instructional strategies, the role of PLCs, intervention and enrichment, and student assessment
Knowledge and comfort with the use of technology in the classroom
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
Minimum of two (2) years instructional leadership experience required
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties:
Collect and analyze data in order to lead data meetings and to inform instructional decisions
Foster collegiality and team building among appropriate personnel, encouraging active involvement in decision-making
Develop and revise curriculum documents as needed
Actively participate in professional development in areas related to job responsibilities
Model district standards of ethics, core values, confidentiality and professionalism
Provide leadership in improving the instructional program in the schools
Positively collaborate with school leaders to design and support programs on campuses
Plan lessons with teachers
Support teachers in documenting student progress.
Develop and deliver district-wide professional learning
Communicate district curriculum, instructional practices, district accomplishments, and goals to all stakeholders
Cultivate partnerships with local, state, and national leaders in the field (including business and community representatives, institutions of higher education, etc.) to ensure the continued growth of the department
Project a positive image to the community
Other:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Equipment Used:
Computer and various office equipment.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress.
Work with frequent interruptions.
This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom equipment.
Repetitive hand motions.
