The Coding Manager is responsible for overseeing all of the daily functions for their particular area of obligation. Promote and support teamwork, engagement, performance excellence, accountability, and professionalism. Lead and support process improvement, and collaboration with internal customers (Clinics, PB Coders/Billers, etc.). Manage within the established Department budget and DNFC goals. Ensure the Coding Team have the education and tools they need to successfully perform at the highest levels of quality and compliance.Experience and Education

Five (5) years of acute hospital-based coding management experience, required. Preferable in an academic environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience working in a remote environment preferred.Required Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or AAPC credential - Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H), or Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC).Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a closely related field, required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Job Duties

Managing the daily functions for assigned area of responsibility.Lead and support process improvement to ensure effective/efficient workflows.Lead and support performance improvement.Communicate at a professional level.Lead and/or support project management internal to the Department and collaboratively with others; i.e.; Clinics, PB Coder/Billers, Compliance, etc.Financial stewardship, manage within Department budget allocations.Promote and support teamwork.Promote and support performance excellence, accountability, and professionalism.Promote and support the UTSW Quality initiatives.Promote and support the Department Quality Standards.Promote and support education and compliance.Maintain an expert level of knowledge of coding related guidelines and practices.Offer a broad knowledge of Revenue Cycle operations.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Work is performed primarily in a general office setting when on-site, as well as from a remote home office setting.Security
