DescriptionWe're seeking a

Registered Nurse, Wound Care

who will be responsible for directing agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care, and ostomy care. This individual:

Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.

Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.

Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.

Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.

Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education.

Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.

Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.

Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.

Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.

Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.

Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred.

Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.

BLS required. ACLS may be required on some units.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste, Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
