Description

Network Engineer - IV will work with IP tool System Engineering Team for companywide IPv4/IPv6 blocks synchronization with production networks. The Network Engineer will also provide Tier 4 IPv4/IPv6 addressing support for IPv4/IPv6 unicast/multicast address requests and issue escalations from various LoB (Line of Business), Data/Voice/Video, enterprise.

Duties And Responsibilities

Help define best practices of managing IPv4 and IPv6 address allocation and consumption.Work with various technical teams (CBO, DOCSIS, NDC/RDC, etc.) responsible for network migration, capacity augmentation, network integration, and IP Operations team members to ensure container hierarchy and IP blocks in IP tools are in sync with changing and dynamic production networks.Provide tier support across different verticals in NetOps organizations.Collaborate with the IPControl System Engineering team to define container hierarchy, block types, and populate IP blocks in logical and/or device containers via IPC configuration, policy setting, and/or router subnet discovery on IP blocks.Develop scripts/programs to manage Client IP blocks (both static and dynamic) and other information in known and migrating networks.Lead IP tool system integration with OSS/BSS such as CNR, Granite, and Multicast Manager.Streamline IP management functions to enable better IP utilization.Develop scripts and software tools for IPv4 and IPv6 data analysis.Provide IP request and/or reclaim tier support across different lines of business (DOCSIS, Commercial Business, Video, Voice, WiFi, Data Center, etc.).Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding IP assignments, planning, configuration, and optimization.Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the experience of stakeholders who need IP addresses to run business and/or grow customer base.Represent the Engineering Department working closely with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies.Know, understand, and follow company policy. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Basic / Minimum QualificationsBachelor in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.Minimum Five (5) years of network and system engineering experience.

Additional Job RequirementsFamiliar with TCP/IPv4 and IPv6 protocols.Experienced in OSS (Operation Support System) and/or BSS (Business Support System).Knowledge of telecommunication and/or cable operator's products and services.Proficient in LINUX or Python.Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, customers, vendors, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner.

Preferred QualificationsCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP).
