Financial Controller for LOVE CORN based in Bergen County, NJ

Exciting opportunity to join LOVE CORN the fastest growing, emerging new snack brand in USA & UK. As the Financial Controller you will manage all financial needs of the company. You will report directly to the CEO. Role is based in our headquarters in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in accounting and financial management within the Food & Beverage industry, and possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Role & Responsibilities:

Direct Accounting Function:

Oversee all aspects of the company's financial accounting, reporting, and analysis functions. AP, AR, bank reconciliation & payroll.

Inventory Controls:

Work closely with operations to put in place controls and procedures on inventory & production forecasting and management.

Trade Spend Controls:

Work with sales team providing oversight, analysis & reconciliation of trade spend, distributor and retailer deductions & chargebacks.

Month End Close:

Responsible for timely, accurate, and efficient accounting close on a monthly basis; monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

Monthly Reporting:

Prepare accurate & timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and KPI reports applying US GAAP.

Manage Budget:

Coordinate and lead the annual & quarterly budgeting and forecasting process. Work with internal teams setting and monitoring department budgets.

Manage Cash-Flow:

Manage cash flow and treasury functions, including banking relationships & cash forecasting. Monitor daily balances, receipts, and disbursements.

Internal Controls:

Develop, maintain and enhance internal control policies, processes, and procedures; maintain integrity/reliability of accounting system + IT support.

Tax & Regulatory Filings:

Responsible for managing partners to ensure local, state and federal tax compliance and reporting.

KPI Reporting:

Oversee a daily, weekly, monthly cadence of KPI’s and goal tracking across all business operations - Sales, marketing, and Operations. Analyze financial data and provide strategic insights to support decision-making and business growth.

Scale Team:

You will manage one Staff Accountant who manages day-to-day AP & AR. As we look to 5x revenue in coming years, you will build the accounting team & processes to manage the growth.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally:

Work with Operations & Sales to drive operational efficiencies and optimize financial performance, e.g., work with team to improve Cost of Goods with suppliers.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidate has Food & Beverage experience or another CPG category working directly with retailers and distributors.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Senior Accounting or Financial Management role Controller role or similar at a Food or Beverage company.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

Advanced Proficiency in Quickbooks Enterprise & Microsoft Excel.

Experience with SPS EDI, Bill.com, Expensify, Payroll software & Health Insurance providers.

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, US GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.

Ability to adapt along with a growing start-up, multi-task to juggle multiple tasks.

This is a Hybrid role based out of our headquarters in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey and reports to the CEO.
