We are looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer. The Senior Traffic Engineer position is a high-level position. The successful candidate must have extensive experience in serving the traffic engineering needs of municipalities, DOTs, and private clients. The position requires the understanding of applicable agency funding policies and regulations and the ability to be proactive in presenting and communicating all aspects of projects to clients, agencies, and the general public. The Senior Traffic Engineer will directly interact with the public and will have public speaking.

CPS, Ltd. is a Grand Forks-based Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm with a 4-decade history of providing professional services for land development and municipal, transportation, traffic, and environmental engineering and surveying. CPS is recruiting a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our team of professionals in Grand Forks, ND.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Provide engineering services to our clients on transportation projects.

Functions as a technical specialist, formulating and developing advanced traffic engineering concepts and reports.

Serve as a technical specialist and staff advisor regarding traffic engineering and transportation engineering.

Provide and receive peer reviews to ensure the projects’ technical appropriateness and accuracy.

Consistently meet and exceed client expectations by ensuring accurate, complete, and timely communication of information to and from clients and co-workers.

Ability to lead project team consisting of CPS staff and sub-consultants.

Responsible for applying intensive and diversified knowledge of civil and traffic engineering principles and practices in broad areas.

Perform Business Developent activities and Market engineering and land surveying capabilities.

Coordination of technical and administrative activities with others when necessary.

Assist in preparing proposals on projects with potential project management responsibilities.

Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills.

Must be able to multitask.

Ability to prepare and manage project scopes and budgets.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline from an ABET Accredited School.

Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)

8+ years of successful transportation engineering experience.

Experience managing staff and prioritizing staff workload and deliverables.

Familiar with MUTCD, AASHTO, HCM, and ADA standards and guidelines

Hands-on experience with traffic engineering software, including HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, etc.

Strong experience in preparation and review of traffic analysis reports, planning and feasibility studies, traffic signal design, bicycle and pedestrian facilities design, intersections, corridors, and Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) in accordance with local, state and federal policies and requirements.

Successful experience as a traffic task manager and/ or project manager for multiple major transportation projects.
