Work is performed under the direction and general supervision of a registered nurse, and is reviewed for compliance, standards, and procedures.Nursing:Prepares, administers, and documents medications and treatments as per nursing policy and procedure.Maintains documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures. Observes, records, and reports physical and behavior response to medication and treatment.Uses nursing process for ongoing care of individuals as need is identified.Maintains work area, medical supplies, and equipment, and adheres to infection control policies.Accompanies individuals to clinic and all off center appointments as assigned.Provides emergency nursing service within the scope of nursing practice.Provides nursing care and administers treatment as directed by a registered nurse.Assists a registered nurse and/or a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in clinics, diagnostic tests, and physical examinations.Prepares and administers hypodermic injections as ordered by the attending LIP.Performs simple rehabilitative nursing procedures for selected chronically ill and aged residents.Conducts an initial assessment and provide appropriate treatment as soon as possible after being notified or becoming aware of an injury or possible injury.Ensures the Florida Abuse Hotline is contacted if abuse, neglect, exploitation, mishandling, mistreatment, or sexual abuse/activity is witnessed, known, or suspected.Administrative:Assists in the development and monitoring of nursing service objectives.Participates as appropriate in all objectives developed for the individuals assigned.Works in conjunction with the registered nurse to assure continuity of care and adherence to IDF/DD standards.Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and special clinics as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTSIf hired with an out-of-state license a valid Florida State driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days.Must maintain certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Direct Care In-Service.Must possess and maintain a current Licensed Practical Nurse license.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of:Nursing principles, practices and techniques.Human anatomy and physiology.Skilled in:Use of emergency equipment within scope of training.Ability to:Lift up to 40 pounds.Interact, assess and respond to individuals who are developmentally disabled.Provide emergency nursing care.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONDRUG FREE WORKPLACETHE STATE OF FLORIDA IS A DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE.
