Senior Environmental Scientists conduct Phase 1 due diligence assessments and may assist more senior colleagues with management tasks including proposal preparation and project management.Conduct Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) Phase 1 and New Jersey Preliminary Assessments (PA)Write detailed ESA reports including the preparation of accurate data/summary tables and/or figuresAssist senior managers in the coordination of work activities for multiple project functions to ensure satisfying deliveryAssist senior managers in meeting milestones, budgetary limits, deadlines, or other performance indicatorsAssist in the selection and/or management of project staff members and subcontractorsPrepare and implement Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses for sitesOther responsibilities as assignedQualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or related environmental field required2+ years of professional experience in an environmental scientist role conducting Phase I assessments and New Jersey Preliminary Assessments (PA)Working knowledge of ASTM Phase I ESA standards, state environmental regulations (NJ, NY, PA), and NJDEP Preliminary Assessment guidanceExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong technical report writing skillsAble to perform multiple tasks and handle multiple priorities while meeting deadlinesProficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite required. Familiarity with AutoCAD, TurboCAD, and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) programs a plusAbility/willingness for frequent regional travel with some national travel for field work. Valid driver’s license is requiredExperience with collection of soil, groundwater, soil gas, indoor air sampling, and conducting Property Condition Assessments a plus but not requiredAdditional Information

Physical requirements include the ability to walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, climbing of ladders to access and evaluate roofing conditions and roof-mounted equipment when conducting PCA projects, and carrying field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity.All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.VERTEX offers a solid total compensation package including base salary and discretionary bonus plan.
