The Los Angeles Brotherhood Crusade is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1968 to enrich the lives of youth, seniors, homeless populations, economically disadvantaged families, and under-served individuals in South Los Angeles by providing and facilitating a variety of essential educational services, social services, cultural activities, vocational opportunities and economic empowerment opportunities.Brotherhood Crusade envisions a South Los Angeles devoid of health disparities, disenfranchisement, and poverty-associated adverse public health conditions. Our mission is to remove and/or help individuals overcome the barriers that deter their pursuit of success in life; effectuate academic and vocational success; provide opportunities for personal, social, and economic growth; promote access to artistic excellence and cultural awareness; increase financial literacy; facilitate opportunities for a better quality of life; and promote health and safety.The primary responsibility of the Job Developer is to identify, develop, create and place 14-24 year old enrollees into mainstreaming, internship, job shadowing, practicum, apprenticeship, entry-level and sustained employment and entrepreneurial opportunities (Stepwise Employment Experiences) with emphasis on 18-24 year old opportunity and disconnected youth in South Los Angeles County.

Responsibilities

Work with entry-level and living-wage employers to develop and implement an employment pipeline for program graduates that will allow them to seamlessly transition through the various stepwise employment experience phases and secure and sustain a living-wage career.Ensure businesses, employers and workforce development partners understand the YouthSource Center workforce development model and strategic plan detailing what success looks like for program graduates and forge strategic partnerships that lead to stepwise employment opportunities and employment of program participants upon graduation.Work with employers and workforce development partners to create, develop and implement stepwise employment opportunities that facilitate sustained success in the workplace for program graduates immediately and throughout their lifetime.Secure internships and job shadowing opportunities with employers and workforce development partners designed to help young people transition through the stepwise employment experience phases.Identify job leads and align participants to the appropriate leads. Negotiate and create transitional and permanent employment opportunities with employers.Match applicant qualifications with employer’s needs and refer qualified applicants to employers.Maintain records of applicants not selected for employment, developing contingent strategies to support said applicants and creating support plans with Case Managers.Develop and maintain a database and statistics specifically related to participant progress through the stepwise employment experience phases as required by our funding partners and delineated in our Workforce Development Evaluation and Learning Protocol.Work closely with entire YSC team to ensure open communication and interaction in order to meet customer satisfaction and job placement goals.Work with the Job Placement Liaison and Workforce Development Instructor to ensure sustained employment and transition to living-wage employment for program graduates.Assist the Job Placement Liaison, as appropriate, in monitoring job placements and collecting data in accordance with the Workforce Development Evaluation and Learning Protocol to ensure program graduates achieve success in employment placement and career objectives.Qualifications

Self-starter, organized and detail-oriented.Ability to work effectively as a team member.Ability to communicate openly and effectively with all staff.Strong problem-solving ability, organizational skills and deadline-driven.Bachelor's degree preferred.At least five years of paid experience in workforce development, case management/career counseling, and/or recruiting and at least two years of paid experience in job development.Knowledge of principles and processes for providing outstanding customer service.Strong knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring.Experience facilitating workshops.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).Bilingual/Spanish a plus.Must have a valid driver license and clean driving record.

$55,000 - $67,000 a year

Salary is based on experience and qualifications.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust possess a valid California Driver's License.Due to our in-person and in-office work with LAUSD, City of LA, County of LA and other work partners that require our team to be vaccinated, we require that all potential candidates must be COVID-19 vaccinated with either Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EQUIPMENT USEDThe successful candidate will be required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week. Offices are traditionally equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and office machines. Additionally, each office offers an instructional classroom from which orientations and trainings are conducted.SALARY RANGE:Benefits and salary will be negotiated based on experience, education, and the needs of the program.DISCLAIMERThis program is unique in that the successful candidate may be working with individuals who, heretofore, have never been exposed to the subject matter and, as such, may not readily adopt the precepts or methodologies. Moreover, these clients may exhibit stress-related emotions such as tension, frustration, and anger. The successful candidate must understand this phenomenon and possess a psychologically stable profile and a demeanor that minimizes the opportunity that these emotions will escalate to conflict.BENEFITSExcellent full benefits package.SCHEDULEMust be available to work Monday- Friday from 9:00am – 5:30pm.
