Due to expansion, Dockside Day Nursery and Pre-School are currently recruiting for a Level 3 Pre-School Room Leader, with a full and relevant level 3 or above childcare qualification. The role is working over four days a week, 40 hours

(or job share)

within our Pre-School Rooms. Our Nursery operates between the hours of 7am and 7pm, 52 weeks of the year, so this is not a term time position. Your role as Room Leader will include:

Great knowledge of child development particularly for the 3–4-year-old age group

Good understanding of the EYFS 2024

Ability to identify gaps in learning and support child development

A passion for working with children

A positive attitude and dedication to working hard

In-depth knowledge of safeguarding requirements

Ability to create a fun and stimulating environment

Ability to work as part of a team and from own initiative

Building bonds with team, nurturing and supporting team to deliver high quality care and development

Main duties include:

Ensuring children's safety and care throughout the day

Leading and working within the room with other staff members, supporting them, advising them, and bringing the team together to work seamlessly for the good of the children.

Following statutory guidance, framework and Nursery policies and procedures

Inspire, motivate, and influence staff through role modelling and reflective practice

Being a key person

To take overall responsibility of implementing EYFS and the confidence to support the team in setting up activities or resources in the room based on children’s interests, gaps in learning and next steps

Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other agencies as appropriate

Working with the management team

Working the very occasional weekend or bank holidays to assist marketing the nursery (time back in lieu)

Committing to updating training and attending courses as required (some could be on Saturdays)

Attending staff meetings and parents open evenings/weekends.

Being a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families according to the EYFS

Completing children’s developmental and observation records - we complete 1 observation per child a month, we do not over subscribe our key persons with copious amounts of paperwork as the EYFS 2024 suggests.

Ensuring the nursery offers an environment which reflects the cultural diversity of all children.

Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues

You will have had experience of the following: Room Leader, Deputy Room Leader, Childcare Practitioner, Early Years Practitioner, Play worker, Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Teacher, Early Years Educator.

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken.
